Kansas City is about to experience an event like no other! The Empower Her Brunch on March 8th is bringing women together for a day filled with inspiration, networking, and growth.

I had the opportunity to chat with Kam, the visionary behind Empower Her, to learn more about why she created this event, who inspires her, and what attendees can expect.

Meet Kam Founder / Visionary Behind Empower Her Brunch

Q: What inspired you to create the Empower Her Brunch?

“Empower Her KC actually started from my love of event decorating. I’ve always enjoyed hosting
gatherings at home, but I’ve always known I wanted to create experiences on a large scale. So,
over the past few months, this idea came together, to create a space where women can
connect, share experiences, and empower each other. As women, we often balance so many
different roles whether it’s being a mom, a business owner, a friend, a partner – and it can be
hard to find time for ourselves. My goal with this event is to provide a supportive space where
women can come together, making lasting connections, and hopefully inspire positive change in
our KC community. I’m a girl’s girl so I love supporting other women and seeing them win.”

What does Empower Her mean to you personally, and how do you hope it impacts the women who attend?

“To me, Empower Her is all about creating a space where women can feel seen, heard, and
supported. It’s about celebrating our unique journeys, sharing our knowledge, and lifting each
other up. Empower Her is a reminder that together, we can achieve so much more, whether
that’s personally, professionally, or creatively.”

Q: Who are some women you look up to, and how have they influenced your journey?

“It all starts at home. My mom and my grandma have played vital roles in influencing me. They
are both independent women who get the job done no matter what obstacles are in their way.
They have taught me patience and persistence. I also look up to Issa Rae. She is a jack of all
trades. She’s heard the word ‘no’ more times than she can count, but when she finally heard
‘yes’ and her life changed, she still stayed true to her authentic self—and I love that.”

Q: What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned from creating this event that you’d like to share with other women? 

“One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that no one can do what you do, the way you do it.
Believe in your vision and trust that your passion will make it special. There’s enough room for
everyone at the table, but you can’t build something great alone. Having a supportive team and
choosing collaboration over competition is everything.”

Q: How did you choose the speakers, topics, and activities for this event?

“I wanted to showcase a diverse group of women in KC, each with a unique path, so that
everyone in the room could take away something meaningful. It was important to me to cover a
wide range of experiences and industries. But more than that, I didn’t want this to be just
another sit-and-listen panel—that can get boring fast. This is a celebration! I love to party, dress
up, and make things fun, so I wanted the event to reflect that energy.”

Q: What do you hope women take away from this experience, both personally and professionally? 

“I want the women in attendance to walk away with lasting relationships and the confidence to go
after whatever they’ve been too scared to pursue. Sometimes, all it takes is being in the right
room with the right people to realize what you’re truly capable of.”

Q :What can attendees expect from Empower HER? Can you give us a sneak peek of what’s in store?

“Absolutely! Think spring—bright, bold colors. I’m a huge aesthetic pleaser, so be ready to snap
photos at every corner. We’ll have brunch-style food paired with delicious drinks from our
bartender, a saxophonist setting the mood, and an amazing DJ bringing the energy. Of course,
there’s the empowering panel discussion, plus plenty of networking opportunities. It’s going to
be a fun, vibrant, and an inspiring day.”
